There are many situations in which, with wind related storm events, school facilities can be more structurally safe than other alternatives and that in the event of early dismissal many parents are still at work. In light of these concerns we plan to remain in session until normal dismissal times. However, with this being an unpredictable and changing situation if students need to be held due to weather at normal dismissal we will hold and or adjust accordingly.
We also wanted to let everyone know that parents are welcome to come and pick up their students at the parent's discretion, without penalty to the student. For those students that drive, parents are welcome to call the school office and give permission for their child to leave early.
We will also be leaving access open to the high school building for those wanting to seek shelter during potential evening weather events. Main entries (doors A-front office, J-commons area, and Q-main gym lower parking) will be open. Buncombe, Cypress, and Vienna Grade Schools will also be open for shelter purposes as well.
